Beit CURE International Hospital (BCIH) is a Christian mission hospital providing free orthopedic health care for children in Malawi. Belt CURE International Hospital Malawi is a teaching hospital that specializes in treating the orthopedic needs of children and adults. The hospital runs as a Christian charity and margins made on adult health care help in providing free care to the needy children of Malawi. The adult orthopedic service covers mostly the common orthopedic conditions such as arthroscopy, total hip & knee replacement, and fracture fixation. The BCIH champions the cause of children and families burdened with physically disabling conditions that can be corrected or alleviated through surgical interventions. The integral mission for BCIH is “Healing the sick and proclaiming the Gospel ”

The BCIH in Malawi, situated along Chipatala Avenue-off Ginnery Corner in Blantyre, is urgently seeking the services of well qualified and competent individuals to fill the following vacant position:



The incumbent will be responsible for preparing asset, liability, and capital account entries by compiling and analyzing account information. Under the general supervision of the Finance Manager, the job holder will assist in the preparation of hospital and departmental financial statements; maintenance of financial records and making follow ups on accounts documentation. The Accountant will also accumulate facts and information in specific accounting areas and summarize in a proper form, clarifying discrepancies and reconciling the financial data appropriately.


  • Providing effective financial management and control so that the hospital meets its legitimate financial duties;
  • Summarizing current financial status of the hospital by collecting information; preparing balance sheet, profit and loss statement, and other reports;
  • Providing proficient financial input, advice and support in all areas of Financial Accounts;
  • Ensuring the provision of an efficient, effective and professional financial accounting service;
  • Maintaining and reconciling account ledgers; maintaining and entering monthly journal entries and reconciling bank accounts;
  • Managing the Financial Services and Capital functions to ensure that a high quality service is provided in a timely manner;
  • Assessing financial impact of proposed services and programs and monitoring of financial cost/benefit of existing programs and services; and,
  • Advocating the winning culture by engaging the finance department employees in all aspects of BCIHM core values.
  • Documenting financial transactions by entering account information and
  • Maintaining specified hospital and clinic financial records;


  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business or Accounting/Economics/Banking;
  • Holding an ACCA/CIM Professional Diploma may be an added advantage;
  • At least 3 years’ accounting experience in a busy organization at managerial level;
  • Advanced theoretical and practical experience in financial computer systems; and,
  • Previous hospital experience will an added advantage.


  • Knowledge and application of relevant national accounting standards;
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and Accounting Softwares Packages
  • Confidentiality of all medical, financial, and other information;
  • Knowledge of administrative services;
  • Strong organizational and interpersonal skills; and,
  • Attentive to detail, and maintains a positive attitude.
