Job Description

PSI Malawi is affiliated to Population Service International, a Washington DC based non-governmental and nonprofit making organization. PSI Malawi mission is to support low income and at risk Malawians to lead healthier lives through the provision and promotion of quality products and services, in line with the Government of Malawi goals. To accomplish its mission, PSI Malawi is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions;

Title: District Coordinators

Location: Dedza and Nkhata-bay

Reports To: Capacity Building Manager

The District Coordinator will be responsible for coordinating all project activities at the district level with key stakeholders, all the project implementing partners and provide general logistical support in a timely and efficient manner through performance of the following specific duties;

  • Coordinate and plan for district and community entry meetings for PSI projects in the district
  • Promote coordination and collaboration among district stakeholders (DHMT, DEC etc) and partners in planning and implementing PSI project activities
  • Coordinate with all PSI implementing partners working within the districts in planning and implementing PSI project activities including data management
  • Facilitate community dialogue; parent and men dialogue
  • Coordinate program inclusiveness for PWDs
  • Manages all project activities including work plan development ( annually, quarterly, monthly), financial management, budgeting and reporting
  • Fleet management at district level including allocation, trip approvals within the district and management of the driver
  • Prepare, present and submit quarterly reports to DEC on the PSI project progress and status
  • Convene PSI district network meetings quarterly with all partners in the district working with PSI
  • Represent PSI during DEC meetings and other district stakeholder meetings
  • Participate in district planning meetings and ensure PSI projects are aligned with District priorities
  • Ensure visibility of PSI projects at District level

Qualification, Knowledge, Ability and Skills
  • At least a Degree in Nursing, Clinical Medicine, Public health or any other health related area with 3 years proven experience in middle or lower management position in health related area, and or with a management or administration qualification and relevant demonstrated years of experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Self-starter, effective team player and demonstrated verifiable results oriented track record
  • High level of professionalism
  • Excellent computer skills
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritize
  • Good report writing and presentation skills
  • Good facilitation and negotiation skills
  • Good grasp of the current issues pertaining to Reproductive Health and other Social Health issues in Malawi
