CARE is an International Non-Government Organization and works in 95 countries around the world to support more than 890 poverty-fighting development and humanitarian-aid projects in the improvement of livelihoods and capacities of poor and marginalized households especially women and girls. In Malawi, CARE works in collaboration with the Government of Malawi and local partners.

CARE seeks to recruit well qualified, experienced and dynamic Malawian nationals to fill the position of Driver which is available at its head office in Lilongwe The main purpose of this position is to support with CARE’s transport and logistics needs in Lilongwe and other field offices across the country.

The incumbent will be the first point of contact for visitors and is therefore expected to present CARE’s image at all times. S/he will be required to uphold CAREs Core values which include Transformation, Integrity, Diversity, Equality and Excellence. The incumbent will also be required to adhere to CARE’s safety and security measures at all times.


The successful candidates shall report to the Fleet Coordinator and will be responsible for the following:

  • Drive CARE staff, visitors and others to and from CARE offices
  • Collect/deliver mail and other materials as requested by the supervisor
  • Conduct routine checks of vehicles and report any faults to the supervisor
  • Ensure that the vehicle is clean at all times
  • Ensure that planned maintenance is conducted on vehicles as scheduled
  • Perform any other duties as assigned from time to time


Minimum Required Qualifications and relevant work experience

  • Minimum of Malawi School Certificate of Education or its equivalent
  • Valid Class BE driver’s licence. Possession of a C class driver’s licence will be an added advantage
  • At least 5 years of relevant as a Driver. Experience driving 4x4 vehicles on gravel roads will be an added advantage
  • Fluency in oral and written English
