Hospital Administrator

CURE has an exceptional opportunity for a Hospital Administrator at its hospital in Malawi. The Hospital Administrator, reporting directly to the Executive Director, will be expected to create tangible policies and standards for the hospital's co-workers (employees) to consistently deliver high-quality patient care.  The Hospital Administrator will also supervise and provide strategic direction to management on staffing plans, compensation, benefits, training and development, budget, and labor relations.  The Hospital Administrator will be responsible for the smooth daily operations of the hospital and be expected to make wide-ranging decisions about people management, assets and security management, business development, implementation of policies, public relations, facilities and vehicle maintenance and information technology.   

 

Responsibilities include:

  • Be in charge of planning, organizing, compensating, integrating and maintaining people for the purpose of contributing to organizational, individual and societal goals
  • Provide the right conditions for all co-workers (employees) of the hospital for each working day whereby the co-workers (employees) are committed to the hospital's goals and values, motivated to contribute to the hospital's success, with an enhanced sense of accountability and their own well being
  • Oversee the performance management system whereby managers and co-workers (employees) work together to plan, monitor and review individual co-worker's (employee's) objectives and overall contribution to the hospital
  • Identify and implement the collective skills, knowledge or other intangible assets of individuals that can be used to create economic value for the individual co-workers (employees), the entire hospital and its stakeholders
  • Be in charge of recruitment and selection of co-workers (employees) whereby a pool of potential candidates with the desired knowledge, skills and experience will be targeted to fill job vacancies against defined position descriptions and specifications

 

Qualified candidates for this position will possess the following:

  • Master's degree in Hospital Administration, Public Health Management or Human Resources Management
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in a managerial position
  • Hospital administration experience highly preferred
  • Leadership and team building competencies
  • Communication and relationship management competencies
  • Professionalism and ethical judgment
  • Knowledge of the healthcare environment
  • Business knowledge and skills
