Monitoring and Evaluation Management Trainee


 

BACKGROUND

The Episcopal Conference of Malawi (ECM) is an assembly of Catholic Bishops in Malawi comprising eight Dioceses namely Blantyre, Chikwawa, Dedza, Karonga, Lilongwe, Mangochi, Mzuzu, and Zomba. ECM has a Secretariat in Lilongwe, which coordinates and facilitates programs designed to fulfil the Mission of the Catholic Church in Malawi, through the Pastoral Commission and social arms under the Social Development Directorate.

The Episcopal Conference of Malawi — Catholic Development Commission in Malawi (CADECOM) in partnership with Scottish Catholic International Aid Fund (SCIAF) received a grant from the European Union (EU) to implement a three year project entitled Hope for Youths: Empowerment of Women and Vulnerable Groups through Vocational and Entrepreneurship Skills Education in Malawi. This project intends to strengthen and increase access to both formal and informal Technical, Entrepreneurial and Vocational Education and Training (TEVET) facilities and systems for youths especially for female. It will also respond to the construction sector requirements for skilled artisans and technicians. This will allow young people, specifically female and vulnerable groups including those who do not possess minimum entry qualification into formal TEVET, to reach to their full potential so as to meet their socioeconomic needs.

It is against this background that CADECOM seeks to recruit a Project Management Trainee, to support the project coordinator in the efficient and effective implementation of the project. This is a temporary and urgent position and the trainee shall be required to work for 1 year.

 

ROLES AND RESPONSIBILITIES OF THE PROJECT MANAGEMENT TRAINEE.

  1. Work with project management team to set college level quarterly targets and timelines.
  2. Work with the project management team to track project progress and efficiency in meeting deadlines.
  3. Collect data from the participating colleges and providing the information to the project coordinator.
  4. Collecting reports from the participating colleges and sharing with the project coordinator for review.
  5. Work with Project management team to document all project achievements and lessons learnt.

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE

The desired candidate must possess the following minimum qualifications and experience

  1. Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science, Project Management or any development related field.
  2. Proven experience in data collection.
  3. At least 2 years’ experience in design, planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of development projects.
  4. Familiarity with TEVET/Education Projects will be an added advantage.
