Job Description

Nkhoma CCAP Hospital invites applications from qualified and well experienced applicants for the position of Programme Officer with a nutrition back ground to join the team in a scaling up nutrition (SUN) 1000 days integrated programme tenable at Chigodi, Ntcheu District.

SCOPE OF WORK:

The Programme Officer will be responsible for the development, management and administration of the Thanzi N’chuma Programme at Chigodi in Ntcheu District.

MAIN DUTIES:
The overall responsibility of this position is to plan, implement and coordinate, monitor and evaluate all nutrition, agriculture, village savings & loan, and health related activities of the project. Specifically, to:

  • Work with community volunteers in the delivery of scaling up nutrition component of the project such as facilitating nutrition trainings; cooking demonstrations, awareness and timed and targeted nutrition counselling
  • Build capacity of community volunteers in basic nutrition using care group model
  • Develop nutrition education curriculum and simple recipes with community based volunteers.
  • Provide technical support and training to community groups in the implementation of nutrition programming food security and, VSLA.
  • Monitor community programme quality and measure progress through field visits and review of reporting documents.
  • Ensure accountability of funds and resources through monitoring visits.
  • Use information from monitoring processes to build the capacity of the community.
  • Assist community groups to develop their capacity in resource development.
  • Ensure that there is nutrition, gender and justice mainstreaming in project delivery.
  • Monitor, evaluate and report all nutrition related deliverables.
  • Represent the project at district nutrition forums.
  • Develop, implement, monitor and review quarterly and annual operational plans and budgets.
  • Provide overall technical support, supervision, management and general support to the programs implementation team
  • Liaise With stakeholders at different levels to ensure delivery of high quality programme implementation and sustainability.
  • Prepare monthly, quarterly and annual programmatic reports to the donors and different stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS & ATTRIBUTES:
  • Applicants must be holders of Degree in Nutrition, Environmental Health or Agriculture obtained from a recognized training institution.
  • Demonstrated experience in working with care groups
  • Experience in integrated community development in areas of Health and Nutrition, food security and livelihoods will be added advantage.
  • Ability to transfer technical expertise through formal and informal training skills in participatory methodologies
  • Applicants must demonstrate direct experience overseeing a project, using participatory approaches, assessment, M&E methodologies and knowledge of current nutrition trends.
  • Must be a good team player with strong organizational skills.
  • Applicants must be experts in Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Applicants must have a clean Motorbike License.
