Goods for Good is seeking experienced professionals to contribute their high level of expertise to the organization and its programs through the following positions:


Position: Program Officer – OVC Care & Support

Location: Mitundu, Lilongwe Rural, Malawi

Job Category: Full-time

Period: 3 years Contract (Renewable Annually)

Reports to: Program Manager – OVC Care & Support

Responsible For: Field Facilitators

Language(s): English, Chichewa



The Program Officer is responsible for the coordination and linking of packaged OVC interventions down to the household level in the community. S/he is also responsible for the day-to-day implementation of integrated OVC activities at the community level; to include supporting and supervising Field Facilitators to implement program activities and monitor them.   The successful candidate will work closely with the responsible Program Manager, in the implementation of OVC care and support activities.



The Program Officer – OVC Care and Support is responsible for implementation, supervision and reporting of all aspects of Goods for Good child focused interventions, with the overall objective of improving the wellbeing of children in Malawi. Specific duties and responsibilities include:

  • Training field facilitators in provision of life skills and financial literacy skills coaching to caregivers 
  • Providing technical support to field facilitators on the implementation of OVC care and support activities at community level
  • Provide support to field facilitators to develop appropriate case plans for caregivers and children in need of support 
  • Monitor OVC care and support program activities with program beneficiaries
  • Monitor and supervise the implementation of Village Savings and Loan (VSL) groups of program beneficiaries
  • Maintain records of program beneficiaries
  • Conduct review meetings and quarterly supportive supervision
  • Participate in the maintenance of the monitoring and evaluation system to demonstrate OVC Care and Support program outputs, outcomes, and impact as well as capture key lessons
  • Prepare and submit reports as required.



  • Understanding and passion for issues affecting vulnerable children
  • Skills in building and sustaining relationships and partnerships with key stakeholders at community level
  • Skills in running community VSL groups
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Strong facilitation skills and experience in training community members
  • Experience in implementing OVC care and support related programs
  • Experience in community systems strengthening with a particular focus on integrated OVC service delivery
  • Experience with successful referral and linkage systems
  • Ability to work independently with minimum supervision and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel)
  • Motorcycle riding license
  • Self-starter, team player and results oriented



  • Graduate qualification in social sciences or social work. Those with a Diploma in Community Development or any other relevant field with vast experience in OVC Care and financial Literacy education will also be considered.
  • At least 3 years of relevant work experience in a non-profit setting
  • Motorcycle license or ability to acquire one in a shortest period
