Job Description

Central East African Railways (CEAR) is the first railway company in Malawi operating in the Nacala corridor connecting countries of Mozambique and Zambia. The company is focused on transportation of general cargo and passengers. CEAR is inviting applications from suitably qualified persons to be considered for the positions in the Engineering department.

Position: ADMINISTRATION MANAGER


PURPOSE


To manage and coordinate the relations between CEAR (and its affiliates) and the Government of Malawi as per the concession agreements between the parties and management of CEAR infrastructure and properties.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Manage corporate affairs activities, by preparing and implementing an action plan leading to strengthen relations between Malawi Government institutions, CEAR, and its affiliate institutions supporting the Nacala Corridor railway development project.
  • Manage Concession Agreement Monitoring report as required by the Concession agreement
  • Identify and develop relations and co-operate with International agencies and non-Governmental agencies acting in Malawi, to promote CEAR activities in Malawi;
  • Support CEAR activities by identifying, resolving and removing bottlenecks and administrative barriers in the communication between Malawi Government Institutions and CEAR.
  • Manage railway infrastructure in accordance with the concession agreement.
  • Undertake any task assigned by management in relation to the concession agreement and other related obligations.
  • Provide advice to CEAR on social-economic and political environment in Malawi.
  • Manage CEAR vehicle fleet to ensure vehicle availability and proper usage.
  • Manage contracts for buildings, cleaning, and Car Drivers.
  • Manage and maintain clean and heath environment for all CEAR offices and operational areas.
  • Manage and allocate CEAR houses to employees in accordance with company policy in liaison with the House Allocation committee.
  • Manage the execution of infrastructure improvement projects in all CEAR premises to guarantee uniformity in all CEAR’S operational areas.
  • Manage hotel bookings for employees and those affiliated to CEAR as may be required from time to time.
  • Human Resource Management (Administration team).


QUALIFICATION AND EXPERIENCE

  • Ability to think strategically and solve problems.
  • Superior leadership skills, team player, and results oriented.
  • Negotiation Skills.
  • 5 years’experience in leadership position.
  • Degree in Administration or Business Management or Project Management.
