The College of Medicine, a constituent College of the University of Malawi, is inviting applications from suitably qualified candidates to fill vacant positions in the following departments:
DEPARTMENT OF ANAESTHESIA & INTENSIVE CARE
Assistant Lecturer (2 Posts)
The Assistant Lecturer post is a training position within the academic ranks of the University. The post holder will be required to attain the relevant postgraduate qualification in order to satisfy the requirement for appointment on a substantive Lecturer post. The successful candidate will be offered a 2-year renewable contract until attainment of relevant postgraduate qualifications, at which point the contract will be converted to permanent (contract for unspecified period).
Duties and Responsibilities:
Teach students under the supervision of a senior academic member of staff
Conduct demonstrations and tutorials
set exams under the supervision of a senior academic member of staff
Assist in the assessment of students
Student attachment/Clinical Supervision
Assist in the supervision of students on attachment and during clinical sessions
Research and Publication
Participate in writing research proposals and submit them for funding
Participate in conducting research in collaboration with senior members of staff
Participate in disseminating of research results at conferences and in publications
Attend departmental, faculty, College and other meetings as required.
The applicants must have the following:
Bachelor of Medicine, Bachelor of Surgery degree (Honours) or its equivalent from a reputable institution.
At least 2 years of post-internship experience.
Registration with the Medical Council of Malawi.
