Job Description

Electricity Generation Company (Malawi) Limited (EGENCO) is a limited liability company incorporated under the Companies Act (Cap. 46:03) of the Laws of Malawi on 7th September 2016. The company was established with the mandate of generating electricity in Malawi.

Applications are invited from suitably qualified Persons of Malawi origin to fill the following vacant positions tenable in the company;


Person Specifications

  • Must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Procurement and Logistics Management from a recognized university.
  • Must have a Diploma in Chartered Institute of Purchasing and Supply (CIPS) or equivalent 3 years’ experience in procurement practice of which 2 years should be in a busy public Institution.
  • Must be a member of MIPS/CIPS.
  • Familiarity with Procurement Procedures requirement is an essential requirement.
  • Must be mature with demonstrable ability to work under pressure, have analytical skills and have excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must be a team player and result oriented.

Job Specifications:
  • Assist the Procurement Officer in arranging relevant documentation in readiness for submission to PPDA
  • In coordination with the procurement officer, assist in the preparation of specifications and bills of quantities for procurement of goods, services and works.
  • Soliciting quotations from prospective supplier of goods, works and services and arranging for their valuations.
  • Issuing of Local Purchase Orders (LPO) for goods, works and services as required from time to time.
  • Assist in Preparation of adverts and ensure timely publications, collection of bids/RFP/RFQ and prepare relevant paper work for receipt of bids/proposal.
  • Follow-up procurement related correspondence and document submission for speedy actions.
  • Expediting the orders to ensure timely and proper arrival of goods and other deliverables
  • Maintain proper records of all procurement documentation and develop a monitoring and reporting system in line with the public Procurement reporting requirements.
  • Assist in preparation of periodic status reports (monthly, quarterly and annual) on procurement implementation and keep stakeholders informed of procurement status.
  • Perform any other relevant duties as assigned from time to time by the Procurement Manager.
