Assistant Registrar - Student Welfare

Job Description

Applications are invited from suitably qualified candidates to fill the vacant position given below tenable at the Polytechnic which will shortly be the University of Business and Applied Sciences (MUBAS).

ASSISTANT REGISTRAR (STUDENTS WELFARE)


The main purpose of this job shall be management of student’s welfare services.

Duties shall include:

  • Interpretation of Students Regulations
    • Interpreting and implementing students welfare policies, procedures, systems, strategies and regulations;
    • Monitoring and evaluation of students’ policies, procedures, systems, strategies and regulations;
    • Attending to students’ welfare matters; and
    • Coordinating students’ disciplinary hearings.
  • Students’ Welfare Services
    • Liaising with the Dean of Students who will later be replaced by a Director of Students’ Affairs on students’ welfare issues;
    • Coordinating professional support for student welfare functions and initiatives;
    • Managing relations with student unions; and
    • Processing study permit for students.
  • Data Management
    • Compiling data for publication on bulletins and catalogues and the website of the University.
  • Administration
    • Supervising and appraising staff;
    • Facilitating mainstreaming of cross cutting issues; and
    • Managing students’ accommodation issues.
  • Secretarial Services
    • Servicing relevant committees applicable to students’ welfare.
  • Sports Administration
    • Coordinating proposal development for mobilization of resources;
    • Coordinating the development and improvement of sports facilities;
    • Monitoring implementation of the sports strategic plan and sports related policies;
    • Coordinating the development of college sports budgets;
    • Monitoring sports budget performance in the university; and
    • Providing technical support in handling sports related matters.

Qualification and Experience

  • Applicants should have a Master’s Degree in Education or its equivalent with 3 years experience in a related filed.
