Job Description

NASFAM is a member owned and directed business system serving the interests of a growing membership of smallholder farmers accross Malawi. As a member owned organisation, NASFAM is founded on the principles of collective action and exists to improve the livelihood of smallholder farmers by developing their agribusiness capacity.

In order to support the delivery of its services to its smallholder farmer members, NASFAM is seeking the services of individuals to fill three vacant positions of Association Business Manager for its Innovation and Productivity Centres in Nkhotakota, Lilongwe North and Ntcheu.

Reporting to the Association Business Manager, the Association Business Manager will serve in a management capacity to develop and manage the farming business of the members. The manager will be expected to employ innovative ways to develop businesses and enhence market linkages, grow assosciation membership, and strengthen governance systems.   

NASFAM is looking for the following key competences and attributes in the Association Business Manager 

  • Proven experience in managing Associations or cooperatives
  • Strong understanding of Agribusiness sector in Malawi
  • The ability to pursue and implement business opportunities that can support the improvement of services and financial viability of Associations 
  • Experience in developing viable business plans
  • Knowledge and experience in collective marketing 
  • Knowlwdge and understanding of financial management systems 
  • Good people management skills and adaptable
  • Good analytical and report writing skills
  • Self motivated and ability to work independently
  • Must have strong communication skills and ability to work with different kinds of stakeholders including farmers;
  • Experience in agro processing and value addition will be added advantage


  • Candidates should have a first degree in Agribusiness Management, Business Administration or any related field.
