Job Description

Nation Publications Limited (NPL), one of the leading print media houses in Malawi, is running six-month waste management project at Kauma in Lilongwe with financial support from Tilitonse Foundation.

The project seeks to build, strengthen community structures as well as promote active citizenship at Kauma.

NPL therefore seeks to recruit Volunteers who will be trained as Community Journalists to take photographs, videos, record voices and arite news stories about the project's activities alongside NPL journalists.

The news items will be published on Nation Online, NPL, social media platforms and newspapers such as The Nation, Weekend Nation, Nation on Sunday and FUKO.


Candidates should have:

  • Minimum of an MSCE with strong credits in English and Chichewa
  • Passion in reading, writing and capturing events in voice, video and photographic forms
  • Live in and around Kauma in Lilongwe.

Successul candidates will undergo training in community journalism before they start submitting stories, photographs, video clips and voices to the project
