Job Description

The Malawi Assemblies of God Press (AG Press) invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the vacant position of Company Accountant tenable at the Company’s Headquarters at Kanjedza in Limbe.



The Company Accountant shall be accountable to the General Manager of the AG Press and will be responsible for providing an effective and efficient financial and accounting services to the AG Press in accordance with generally acceptable accounting principles, and the supervision of the human resources and administration functions of the Company.


  • Provide leadership to the Company’s financial and accounting functions with responsibility for accounting, accounts payable, accounts receivable and payroll.
  • Produce financial reports, proper maintenance of accounting records; accurate processing of financial transactions; and administration of a comprehensive set of controls and budgets designed to mitigate risk;
  • Supervise the human resources, administration and procurement functions of the Company;
  • Provide useful financial insights for management decisions on strategy formulation and implementation
  • Provide guidance and analysis to Executive and Operational management for improved results.
  • Maintain system of accounts and keep books and records on all transactions and assets.
  • Prepare and analyze accurate monthly financial and management reports, including income statement, balance sheet, budget and variance, projections and forecast, and cash flow.
  • Maintain control of the following areas* general ledger, accounts payable, expense reports, billing, and payroll.
  • Administer payroll, using various tools to deliver flawless payments
  • Oversee maintenance of personnel records and benefits administration.
  • Prepare a variety of ad hoc financial scenarios as requested.

  • The candidate must possess at least a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance
  • With a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in finance, accounting, audit, and financial reporting in accordance with IFRS.

  • Proactive, hands-on manager who will own responsibility for the Finance Department.
  • Strategic thinker who possesses solid business acumen and is able to organize and manage multiple priorities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills, with the ability to perform multiple tasks and meet critical deadlines while maintaining accuracy and quality.
  • Proven ability to make complex and time-sensitive decisions in the best interests of the organization.
  • Proficiency with Sage or other accounting software and excellent Excel skills.
