FEED THE FUTURE MALAWI AGRICULTURAL DIVERSIFICATION ACTIVITY

Background

The Feed the Future Ag Diversification Activity is a five-year project that contributes to USAID/Malawi`s Feed the Future goal of sustainably reducing poverty and stunting in eight districts of central and southern Malawi (Mchinji, Dedza, Ntcheu, Balaka, Machinga, Mangochi, Lilongwe rural and Blantyre rural). The activity fosters inclusive and sustainable growth of Malawi`s agricultural sector. The activity seeks to improve the nutritional status of women and children under five through a proven nutrition sensitive approach of layering agriculture and nutrition behavior change interventions in rural communities, while increasing the competitiveness of high value, nutrient-rich value chains through support for agricultural enterprises and increased access to markets and finance. The program is financed by the American people through USAID Malawi.


Position: Driver


Objective of the Assignment

The Overall responsibility is to drive project vehicles in such a way to ensure the e safety of all project staff and items. Collect and deliver items as detailed by dispatcher.

Key Responsibilities

  • Driving vehicles as directed, including transporting staff to the field, performing pickups and delivery tasks.
  • Being responsible for routine vehicle management, inspect the vehicle, noting damage, scratches, malfunctions, or problems and report any faults to senior driver.
  • Compile trip reports vehicles sheets and enter into the fuel consumption report
  • Ensuring vehicles are clean and well maintained and road worth at all times
  • Process monthly fuel requests and consolidate fuel liquidations for office vehicles
  • Ensure vehicle maintenance work orders, insurance and COF for vehicles are timely processed.
  • Ensure that self and all passengers are wearing seatbelts prior to departure, including those in the back seat.
  • Record correctly and on time trip details in the log sheets
  • Report any accident involved while driving project vehicle to Police and appropriate authorities.
  • Ensure vehicle has all the required forms before starting a trip
  • Ability to perform administrative duties including photocopying, scanning, backstopping receptionist
  • Perform micro purchased for project needs
  • Provided administrative support to technical teams when on field mission, including disbursing allowances, registration of participants and support in presentations
  • Any other duties as assigned by the Supervisor

Required Education and Experience
  • Valid driver`s license minimum class EB
  • Must have Professional Driving license
  • Must have valid Defensive Driving Certificate
  • Minimum driving of 3 to 5 years` experience of which 2 years` experience working with USAID/ Donor funded organization driving in off road and various districts across Malawi.
  • Must be fully competent with Malawi Road Traffic Driving Laws and have a Safe Driving Record
  • Knowledge of driving 4×4 vehicles
  • Completion of secondary education

Desired Skills, Competences and Knowledge
  • Must possess basic auto repair and maintenance skills
  • Must have ability to make sound safety- driven decisions regarding weather, road conditions and other safety risks.
  • Oral and written working knowledge in English and Chichewa languages required.
  • Computer literature knowledge in Microsoft Office applications (particularly Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Willingness to travel in-country and to the rural areas of the project`s zone of influence.
  • Knowledge in providing administrative support to field teams and conduct micro purchases.


Interview


Only shortlisted candidates will be notified, and interviews will be including both oral, written exercise and driving test by the Road Traffic Directorate in line with the overall scope of work for the position.
