Job Description

The Baylor College of Medicine Children’s Foundation – Malawi (BCM-CFM) is a not-for-profit organization working in partnership with the Malawi government in the health sector. Our mission is to improve the health and lives of HIV-infected children and families and Children with cancer and blood disorders through high quality, high impact, ethical, state of the art comprehensive care and treatment, training of health professionals and clinical research. We are situated within the Kamuzu Central Hospital premises, opposite Kamuzu College of Nursing.

BCM-CFM invites applications from suitably qualified individuals to fill the following position:


The Driver Under the supervision of the Global HOPE Program Manager, the driver and logistics assistant will be responsible for driving the Baylor Malawi vehicles assigned to the Global HOPE program. He/she will ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the Global HOPE vehicle(s). He/ she also makes routine decisions addressing day-to-day navigation issues when driving the Global HOPE vehicle(s) to ensure safest transportation of staff, goods and patients as approved by BCM-CFM/Global HOPE.


  • Serves as the Driver for Baylor Malawi – Global HOPE Program and Meets Program’s Ground Transportation Needs
  • Drives Global HOPE staff and visitors to various locations, as approved by the immediate supervisor, in order to facilitate coordination of program activities including but not limited to meetings, events, stores, bank, hospitals, stakeholders’ offices, outreach sites, etc.
  • Maintains the program vehicle(s) by assisting with the cleaning and servicing of the vehicle(s) and ensuring that all registration and licensing of the vehicle(s) is up to date.
  • Maintains the vehicle log books and record keeping of monthly fuel per Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) requirements.
  • Reports any problems with the program vehicle to the immediate supervisor in a timely manner.
  • Assists with business errands as instructed and approved by the immediate supervisor.
  • Ensures that all personal certifications and/or licenses required to drive a vehicle are maintained.
  • If permitted by NGO, assists with the transport of Global HOPE patients when public transportation is not feasible.
  • Ensures that the program vehicle(s) is clean both inside the vehicle and externally.
  • Assist in administrative duties for the Global
  • Assists the Global HOPE Program Manager with administrative tasks for the running of the Global HOPE Program, which include but are not limited to office tasks such as copying, scanning, and filing as required.
  • Serves as an assistant for Global HOPE-related clinical activities, such as collecting drugs and supplies from the pharmacy, laboratory specimens, and results, etc.


The formal education and experience required for completely satisfactory performance in this job is:

  • Malawi School Certificate of Education.
  • Minimum of two years of work experience driving a program vehicle for business purposes
  • Experience working in a medical setting preferred.
  • Strong verbal and written English & Chichewa .
