Job Description

Malawi AIDS Counselling and Resource Organization (MACRO) is a non-governmental organization that provides quality HIV prevention and treatment services to individuals, families and communities through static and outreach outlets in order to reduce HIV transmission and the impact of HIV and AIDS in Malawi.

MACRO is implementing the Meeting Targets and Maintaining Epidemic Control (EpiC) Project with support from FHI 360.

Currently applications are invited from suitably qualified individuals to fill vacant positions in EpiC Project tenable in Machinga and Zomba Districts

Post: Drop-In-Centre Manager (1 Position) – Ntaja

Position Overview

Reporting to the Program Coordinator, the Drop-In-Centre Manager oversees daily activities and duties at the centre always ensuring efficient and effective delivery of health information management and treatment services.

Main Responsibilities

  • Maintaining a clean and well-arranged centre and create a friendly and accessible environment for key populations
  • Following up on all referrals made and ensure that clients received the services and data correctly captured for clients accessing HTC, STI treatment, antiretroviral treatment and adherence to treatment
  • Building a sound working relationship with health care workers from nearby health facilities, project Peer Educators and Peer Navigators;
  • Where necessary, supporting outreach clinics offering a range of HIV services in identified hot spots;
  • Ensuring good quality clinic data and adequate commodities consumption records, calculate consumption and make requisitions on time to avoid stock-outs;
  • Develop and implement worksite plans for the Drop-in Centre and deliver performance indicators across the assigned area as per the program work plan;
  • Work with the DHO’s Office to ensure that the project is provided with adequate stocks of drugs and medical commodities as well as safe custody of the drugs and equipment in the facility and liaise with relevant authorities to ensure continued supply of test kits, condoms and other reagents to the facility;
  • Submit timely reports to the M&E Officer and Program Coordinator
  • Prepare and submit annual procurement plans for area of responsibility; and ensure that supplies requested have been followed up
  • Capacity building and mentorship of HIV diagnostic assistants
  • Planning and coordinating Project activities
  • Collaborate and Coordinate with other project implementing stakeholders

Required Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing
  • Diploma in Diploma in Nursing with not less than 5 years’ experience of community nursing or HIV and AIDs programing work
  • Must be a registered and active affiliate of the Nurses and Midwifes Council of Malawi.
  • Those trained in ART and STI management will have added advantage
  • Computer literate and familiar with Microsoft office
  • Ability to write work reports
  • Team player
