The Government of Malawi through the Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism established the Leather Design Studio and Incubation Centre (LDSIC) in 2018 under the Malawi Enterprise Productivity Enhancement (MEPE) Project with financial support from the European Union (EU) through the Common Market for Eastern and Southern Africa (COMESA) under the Regional Integration Support Mechanism (RISM) programme.
The LDSIC has a state of the art equipment for designing and production of leather products such as industrial safety boots, office wear shoes, school shoes, ladies hand bags and belts. The Centre is linked to COMESA Regional Leather Design Studio in Mombasa, Kenya and COMESA leather centres across the region. The LDSIC is envisioned to be a leading and innovative centre of excellence in building capacity, production and marketing of leather and leather products. The LDSIC will offer the following services: training services in vegetable tanning, leather products manufacturing, leather industrial machine operation and leather products designing; Business Incubation Services in leather products production, including entrepreneurship, accounting and business management services and designing services; and Market linkages such as leather products exhibition.
The LDSIC is now inviting applications from suitably qualified and highly motivated persons to fill the following positions on short term three (3) months contracts (renewable subject to project extension) that are tenable at Chatha in Blantyre.
