Job Advertisement — Fundraising Finance Manager

Development Aid from People to People (DAPP) Malawi is a locally registered NGO that has been operating in Malawi since 1995. DAPP Malawi invited suitably qualified and experienced persons to apply for the position of Fundraising Finance Manager, tenable at the Fundraising Division (Clothes and Shoes) at Maselema in Blantyre.

Job Summary
The Finance Manager is responsible for timely and accurate financial accounting and reporting for the Fundraising Division, as well as organising and leading the work of a team of divisional finance staff.

Key Performance Areas

  • Provide day-to-day supervision of the accounts team managing Fundraising Division financial records.
  • Oversee and strengthen stock management systems to ensure accurate inventory records, effective controls, timely reconciliations and minimisation of stock losses and variances.
  • Participate in budgeting and provide advisory support for new budgets and budget revisions.
  • Ensure timely production and submission of divisional financial reports according to prescribed formats and deadlines.
  • Maintain strategic files for key foreign suppliers and service providers, ensuring completeness and up-to-date availability of key documents.
  • Coordinate internal and external audit exercises and ensure observations are addressed appropriately.
  • Ensure timely cash and bank reconciliations and monthly reconciliation of salaries and related costs.
  • Ensure divisional reconciliations with National HQ are completed monthly and in line with financial cut-off dates.
  • Ensure compliance with tax regulations, including import duty, VAT, PAYE and withholding taxes.
  • Identify staff capacity gaps and support improvement of financial systems and controls.
  • Support performance appraisal of sectional staff.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration or a related field.
  • Professional qualification such as ACCA, CIMA or ICAM graduate qualification.
  • Minimum of 5 years’ practical accounting experience at supervisory level.
  • Working knowledge of accounting software including SAGE ERP 300.
  • Strong financial management, reporting, communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines and work with minimal supervision.
