NICO Holdings Plc, an Equal Opportunity Employer, has a vacancy for a Legal & Compliance Manager, tenable at the Corporate Office in Blantyre. Reporting to the Group Company Secretary the successful candidate will be expected to provide support to the legal function of the NICO companies

Position: Legal & Compliance Manager

The incumbent will support the legal, compliance and governance functions. Major areas of responsibility will be to ensure that the Board of Directors, Management and Employees are in compliance with applicable laws, rules, regulations, policies and operational standards. Further, he/she will also be expected to provide support to the Governance/Company Secretarial function of the NICO Group. He/she will in this respect play a major role in ensuring that the NICO Group Companies are managed in accordance with applicable corporate governance principles and standards and relevant constitutional documents. The ideal candidate will be expected to also support the legal function in drafting and reviewing legal documentation, providing legal advice, managing litigation and generally providing the required legal support on transactions with third parties.


The successful candidate must have the following competencies, qualifications, and experience:

  • Strong interpersonal skills to effectively interact and collaborate with the Board, Management, and functional staff at all levels.
  • A self-starter and self-motivated individual who takes initiative and ownership to bring tasks to completion.
  • Results driven
  • An analytical logical thinker with good problem-solving skills.
  • A law Degree and licensed to practice in the courts of Malawi,
  • At least three (3) years’ experience in a similar role. Those with experience or qualification in compliance will have an added advantage.
