The Malawi Liverpool Wellcome Trust Clinical Research Programme is a partner in the MPhil in Genomic Science programme based at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, Hinxton, UK.

The Wellcome Sanger Institute is a world leading genomics institute at the forefront of experimental, computational and translational genomic research. Faculty members apply large scale genomic tools to a range of research areas, including the investigation of human genetic variation in health, cancer and other diseases, gene function and genome variation in cells, bacterial and parasitic human pathogens, and the genomic diversity of complex organisms.

Genomics is assuming an increasingly prominent place in biological research. The MPhil in Genomic Science programme is being run in partnership with a number of institutions in low and middle income countries, and will equip students with a unique blend of experimental and informatics skills, maximising their competitiveness for future opportunities.

Participating partner institutions can each choose one local candidate, who will then compete for one of three fully-funded (stipend and University fees) 1-year research MPhil studentships, based at the Wellcome Sanger Institute, starting 1st October 2020.
