Job Description

AGMA Holdings Limited, a group of companies managing among others a successful passenger transportation service which has been in the industry for more than 12 years, a Courier Service, Trading etc wishes to recruit a suitably qualified and experienced individual to fill the vacant position of PARALEGAL OFFICER tenable in Blantyre as follows:


Paralegal Officer will be responsible for providing legal services to the Group of companies including studying and analyzing legal matters and advising management on the required direction on all the legal matters and providing other legal services that shall be required by the Group.

Reporting to the Human Resources Manager, the Paralegal Officer will be expected to perform among other duties the following functions:-

  • To provide legal advice and counsel to the company
  • To review, analyse and proof read various legal documents and reports
  • To manage legal records and case files
  • To work on the preparation of materials for trials, hearings etc
  • To draft various court documentation and track case progress
  • To supervise the management for external lawyers
  • To engage with various stakeholders including judicial officers, prosecutors and other stakeholders including the sheriff
  • To offer strategic legal direction to the company
  • To represent the organisation on legal matter forums.
  • Keep records of all legal matters
  • To negotiate legal suits for out of court settlements
  • To select appropriate lawyers to handle matters requiring court action
  • To track all matters in court with the respective lawyers handling the cases
  • To conduct secretarial work for all the group companies

Ideal Qualification, Skills and Knowledge 

  • A law degree from a reputable university coupled with a minimum of 3 years’ practical experience in legal affairs
  • Must demonstrate adequate legal knowledge in laws related to fraud, corruption, labour, commercial and litigation related matters
  • Be a self-starter with the ability to work with minimal supervision
  • Must have the drive and be a team player
  • Must be organized and be able to pay attention to detail
  • Be able to present opinions, advice and other relevant communication in a concise and clear manner
  • Proficiency in both spoken and written English
  • Good computer skills and working knowledge of MS Office Suite.
