Good Neighbors International (GNI) is an international humanitarian and developmental organization with its headquarters in Seoul, Republic of Korea. GNI is a non-profit, non-governmental organization in General Consultative Status with United Nations Economic and Social Council (UNECOSOC). GNI (Malawi branch) implements Community Development programs on child health, education, sanitation and income generating activities. Good Neighbors Wishes to invite applications, from highly competent dynamic, self-driven and results oriented candidate to fill the the above vacancy in the organization.

POSITION: NATURAL FARMING PROJECT COORDINATOR (1)

Duty Station: Lilongwe/ Kasungu

PURPOSE OF THE POSITION
The Coordinator will work with other project staff to study, explore, design and implement activities which favorably address the sustainable farming technologies and thereafter provide recommendations to farmers and other stakeholders.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Manage garden and farm activities including: Land preparation, sowing, weeding, watering, harvesting, fertilizing, composting and pest control
  • Study and analyzing data related to organic and natural farming.
  • Develop and implement meaningful educational activities related to natural and organic farming.
  • Determine roles and responsibilities for garden workers for optimum garden engagement
  • Grow as a leader: Investigate leadership styles, different ways to operate garden, how to approach conflict resolution.
  • Experiment design, process and results recording and analyzing

QUALIFICATIONS
  • Diploma in Agriculture or any related field is required Knowledge and practical experience in commercial-scale organic crop production, with minimum of 3 years’ experience.
  • Suited to work in a startup environment and be adaptive.
  • Well-versed in and familiar with organic farming principles.
  • Self-starter and self-directed with a well-developed ability to work independently..
  • Good communication skills, punctual, creative and energetic.
  • Applied problem solving and critical thinking abilities.
  • Willing to Work in the field in and outside Lilongwe district.
  • Ability to work with a diverse group of people of all ages.
  • Excellent communication skills in both English and Chichewa
  • Computer literate.
