POSITION: PROJECT FACILITATORS (4)

REPORTING TO : Project Coordinator.

LOCATION : TA Amidu, Kalembo, Nsamala and Nkaya headquarters in Balaka

Eagles Relief and Development Programme (Eagles) envisions communities that are able to identify their problems, find lasting solutions and take actions so that they are self-reliant, resilient and have an improved standard of living and an active faith. Its mission remains to mobilise and empower local churches and communities to work together, take responsibility for their own development and achieve holistic change. Communities develop skills, attitudes and knowledge that enable them become self-reliant and resilient, learning to identify and solve problems facing them using what they have, as well as collaborate with other stakeholders through networking and advocacy to address problems that are beyond their capacity

Eagles will be implementing a Gender Responsive Ultra Poor Graduation project. The project is under a consortium of Oxfam and Christian Aid, with Oxfam as a lead and grant holder. The project targets Balaka and Machinga districts, aiming to graduate 3 300 households, including 30% women headed households and 20% youth headed households from ultra-poverty. Eagles Relief will implement the project in Balaka district targeting 4 Traditional Authorities of Amidu, Kalembo, Nsamala and Nkaya, aiming to graduate 1 250 ultra-poor households from ultra poverty.

Eagles Relief is therefore seeking to recruit the above vacant position.

PURPOSE:
The primary purpose of the job is to ensure that Project in Balaka and Chikwawa are efficiently and effectively implemented to ensure that project objectives and outputs are achieved.

DUTIES:

  • Ensure that there is high level of community and church mobilization in Projects are in line with Eagles vision, mission and values to enhance both church and community members’ engagement for planned project activities.
  • Planning, implementing, monitoring and evaluating Project activities with communities and other stakeholders to ensure attainment of project objectives, outputs and targets by adhering to approved work plans and budgets.
  • Facilitating day to day implementation of project activities in line with project work plans and budgets.
  • In collaboration with community local structures, lead in identification of project beneficiaries
  • In collaboration with community volunteers, lead in coaching and mentoring of project beneficiaries
  • Support project beneficiaries to maintain financial diaries
  • Providing technical expertise and trainings to local churches and local communities on project interventions Conduct vulnerability and capacity assessments amongst the communities.
  • Preparing and producing quarterly and annual work plans for Project interventions in a timely manner in line with organizational and donor requirements.
  • Write project progress reports on monthly, quarterly and annual basis in line with project activity work plan.
  • Mainstreaming cross-cutting issues such as gender, HIV & AIDS in the project activities.
  • Documenting church and community transformation case studies/stories with quality pictures on a monthly basis for sharing with stakeholders including donors
  • Collaborating with relevant stakeholders at all levels, including government, churches, NGOs and community level leadership in the planning and implementation of the project activities.
  • Undertake any other duties as may be assigned by the supervisor from time to time.

QUALIFICATION AND REQUIREMENTS:
  • A minimum of a Diploma in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livelihoods, or Rural development from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 3 years experience in implementing donor-funded projects in an NGO set up in areas of enterprise development, financial inclusion, food security, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, water and sanitation and church mobilization.
  • Knowledge and experience in participatory approaches
  • Knowledge and experience in church and community mobilization transformation process.
  • Excellent networking and resilience building of ultra-poor households.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English and Chichewa.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be a practicing Christian.
  • Must be self starter and motivated person, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Possession of clean valid motorcycle driving license.
