Job Description

An opportunity has arisen in our fast growing organization and applications are invited from suitably qualified and experienced individuals to fill the following position tenable at our Head Office in Blantyre:


Reporting to the Managing Director the Risk and Compliance Officer will be responsible for providing assurance and advisory services to Senior Management regarding Corporate Strategy, Enterprise Risk Management, Corporate Governance and Compliance processes as aids to the attainment of the business and strategic objectives. 


Will include:- 

 Develop a monitoring and control strategy for risks so that they are within acceptable ranges.
 Plans, designs and implements an overall risk management process for the organization;
 Review the efficacy of management procedures to ensure compliance with key statutory and other legal requirements 
 Advise the Board of Directors, Executive Management and staff on the overall compliance exposures of the company.
 Performs statistically significant reviews within deadlines, writes reports and obtains management responses
 Conduct risk reviews on business units to determine the adequacy of risk management systems in place.
 Monitor and ensure all statutory and regulatory returns are submitted as per requirement to avoid violations and penalties
 Prepare and present quarterly risk and compliance reports to the Risk and Audit Committee during Board meetings.
 Conduct staff awareness programs on Anti-Money Laundering And Counter Financing Terrorism regulations
 Update Risk and Compliance matrix for presentation during ExCom meetings when required
 Coordinate and provide continual capacity building on risk management and internal controls to staff.
 Facilitate in the development and implementation of a disaster recovery system in accordance with strategic objectives
 Assists external auditors, regulators, and other examiners during routine audits and examinations
 Performs special investigations, as assigned.

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or Business studies and studying towards a profession qualification in ACCA, CIA or CIMA 
  • 5 years’ experience in a Risk and Compliance management position in a related environment
  • Competent computer skills including MS Office
  • Good knowledge of relevant legal requirements and procedures.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, numerical skills and the ability to evaluate costs. 
  • Ability to understand broad business issues
