Job Description

Horizon Health Limited, one of the leading health insurance providers in Malawi, invites applications from suitably qualified and experienced candidates to fill the position of Sales and Marketing Officer in its Commercial Services Department tenable at the company’s Lilongwe Branch.

Position: Sales and Marketing Officer 


Reporting to the Branch Manager, the incumbent will be responsible for Client recruitment, weekly reports of potential new customers, provide customized business intelligence and market research to assist in shaping the company’s marketing strategies and business plans. The successful candidate will also provide administrative support, strategize business analysis and ensure registration of new markets for the business and produce reports in an accurate and timely manner. He/ She will also pray a vital role in contributing towards the company’s mission to be a leading healthcare insurance provider in Malawi.


The roles, responsibilities will be to:

  • Identification of market opportunities and lead in the assessment and prioritization of market;
  • Client recruitment;
  • Driving development and execution of marketing strategy;
  • Enhance service adoption and market penetration;
  • Design and implement sales promotion programmes for both corporate and individual clients;
  • Design and implement marketing research programmes on consumers and markets;
  • Developing and managing customer relations;
  • Leading and managing all customer interactions;
  • Handling customer queries timely develop and manage customer relations and interactions, both existing and potential;
  • Prepare customer service reports based on our customer queries indicating our product shortfalls and possible areas of improvement;


  • A minimum of 3 years of progressive professional experience in an environment that requires quick,
  • Innovative thinking and decision making.
  • Thorough working knowledge of the insurance health systems, monitoring and its related procedures for analyzing client behaviors.
  • Thorough understanding of the company’s products and facilities.
  • Experience in Insurance or Health Insurance would be an added advantage.


  • A minimum of a first degree or Diploma in Business Administration or Marketing or any other related degree from a reputable University.

  • Self- starter with a sound work ethic and follow through.
  • Strong organization and management skills.
  • Strong consulting and portfolio development skills.
  • Confident and effective communicator.
  • Proactive approach to relationship building with the ability to manage difficult relationships.
  • Strong team player.
