Senior Economist: Corporate Planning

MRA is recruiting:


Position: SENIOR ECONOMIST: CORPORATE PLANNING (D1)


Purpose:

To monitor and evaluate relevant organizational development programmes and initiatives

Reports to: Manager Corporate and Policy Planning

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • To monitor the planning and policy related matters for the development of short and long-term business plans
  • To monitor the effectiveness of internal corporate reporting systems
  • To review the Strategic Plan and its communication/promotion strategy
  • To conduct analysis to manage sourcing and analysis of formal and informal customer feedback
  • Monitoring and evaluating the implementation of Key Performance Indicators and high level targets to measure the agency’s progress towards its mission
  • Monitoring and evaluating performance against Corporate plans
  • Monitoring the formulation of budget plans to ensure that they are consistent with Corporate Plans
  • To review and enhance prepared reports

SKILLS REQUIRED

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s’ degree in Economics or related field from a recognized university (A master’s degree in Economics, or a related field will be an added advantage).
  • Computer literacy in computer packages such as Microsoft Office, Statistical Package for the Social Sciences (SPSS), STATA, or other statistical analysis packages.
  • Related experience and education in fiscal management and analysis

Minimum years of experience
  • Five years’ experience in coordinating corporate planning activities and performance management system

COMPETENCIES REQUIRED FOR THIS ROLE
  • Demonstrate analytical skills that allow for interpretation of budgetary, financial, and related management information.
  • Prior experience in coordinating corporate planning activities
  • Knowledge of the performance management system
  • Excellent writing skills sufficient to draft professional reports and correspondence that is clear and concise.
  • Strong organizational skills to work independently and to prioritize a heavy workload under the pressure of competing assignments.
  • Excellent interpersonal and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to work cooperatively with persons at all levels in the organization.
  • Ability to respond flexibly and positively in all circumstances, and to work calmly under pressure.
  • Ability to exercise good judgment and discretion, especially with regards to sensitive or confidential personnel or organizational matters.
  • A good understand of MRA’s core business.
  • Good understanding of Malawi tax system and tax policies.
