The bank therefore invites applications from suitably qualified individuals for the following Position:

Business Development Manager (South) 1 position, Blantyre

The position

The Business Development Manager is one of the most senior managers in CDH investment Bank’s (CDHIB), The Business Development Manager shall have the overall responsibility and accountability for all sales and account relationship management for corporates, Public Sector, International Organizations, Non-governmental organizations, SMEs and personal banking aspects on the Southern Region.

The Business Development Manager will be responsible for maintaining and growing his/her own segregated portfolio of corporate, public sector, international organizations and non-governmental organizations. These clients will be those that bring various forms of business to the bank such as assets (loans and advances), liabilities with emphasis on low cost deposits, foreign exchange, international trade business etc in order to contribute to Business Development profitability and to overall bottom -line of CDHIB

The manager will also support the bank’s business strategy to grow the international trade and investment Banking business by building and maintaining a strong relationship with investment banking clients and ail other bank clients.

The incumbent’s job is predominantly a sales job which requires the job holder to be travelling a lot in search of new clients and business in the Southern districts of Malawi.

Key responsibilities

  • Contribution to strategy formulation: Develop and contribute towards the development of bank business strategy in the Southern region of Malawi.
  • Devising strategic plans to expand sales
  • Strategy execution: Lead in the execution of business strategy
  • Financial targets: Manage execution of strategy and be responsible for delivering assets, liabilities and revenue targets, which include but not limited to net interest revenues, fees and commissions.
  • Account relationship management: Manage a portfolio of customers as account relationship manager
  • New product/service development: Lead in development of new services and products for approval in line with new product development policy.
  • Sales, Identify and meet with potential new clients and develop effective marketing strategies in order to maximize the bank’s coverage of specific corporate and high net worth individuals. The Manager shall cross sale treasury, commercial banking and investment banking opportunities
  • Team leadership: Lead a team of account relationship officers, managers and analysts in the southern region including supervision of activities in the banking centres in the Southern Region of Malawi in view of achieving agreed budget targets.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Applicants must have Bachelor’s degree in commerce, marketing, finance, banking or its equivalent. A Masters’ degree will be a plus.
  • At least 10 years’ experience in banking or financial services sector.
  • Knowledge of banking operations.
