Job Description

A medical research organization is seeking to recruit suitably qualified and highly motivated Clinical Trial Coordinator to be based in Blantyre. Appointment will be made on a fixed term basis for two years, which may be renewed depending on performance and availability of funds.

Post: Clinical Trial Coordinator

Job Summary

To manage the day-to day activities of the research site including providing patient care, ordering and managing stocks, supervising site staff and maintaining site records according to procedures and principles of Good Clinical Practice.

Duties and responsibilities

Duties shall include but not limited to the following:

  • Providing oversight of all trial activities on behalf of the team leaders and Principal Investigator (PI)
  • Responsible for day to day management and supervision of research site and staff
  • Provision of client/participant care as per protocols
  • Updating and maintaining quality control of trial records as per protocol
  • Conducting staff trainings and meetings
  • Provision of reports and up-to-date records of all trial records and documents
  • Responsible for ordering, monitoring and maintaining stocks of consumables and equipment at research site
  • Maintaining an amicable working relationship and clear communications with focal points in the MoH host facilities
  • Prepare regular progress reports of the site to the team leaders , PI and Programme Manager (PM)
  • To be aware at all times of responsibilities pertaining to the post (as recorded in this document)
  • To carry out any other delegated administrative or managerial duties that may be assigned by the PI, team leaders and PM from time to time

  • Minimum must be a Diploma in Clinical Medicine or Diploma in Nursing with at least 2 years’ experience in clinical research.
  • Newly qualified doctors with a special interest in developing a career in clinical research may also be considered.
  • Valid registration with Medical Council of Malawi or with the Nurses Council of Malawi accordingly.
