Job Description

Vision Fund Malawi and Heifer International is implementing the Enhancing Community Based Financial Organizations (ECBFO) Project with funding from FARMSE targeting rural farmers in the dairy industry, which is a partnership between the Government of Malawi and IFAD.

Position: Dairy Relationship Officer (5 Posts)

Reporting: Branch Manager

Nature of the post: 3 years contract (renewal every year)

The successful persons will build and maintain a healthy portfolio of dairy loans for milk bulking groups. Identify, process, and monitor new and existing clients. Ensure accurate loan appraisals; take part in accessing the dairy cow health and hygiene of the pens, evaluations, maintaining relationship between the VFM and dairy off-takers, and the efficient follow-up of arrears/delinquent clients and the provision of strong client service.

Major Duties and Responsibilities

  • Build and maintain Dairy loans of quality clients rapidly and consistently to reach target portfolio within assigned period.
  • Liaise with Dairy industry stakeholders such as milk associations and milk bulking groups to ensure that business grows with specified targets
  • Implement promotion campaigns and promotional sessions/meetings for sourcing clients
  • Maintain good relationship with Milk bulking group executive and provide guidance on good cooperative governance as well as off-takers relationship building
  • Conduct loan evaluations and management according to policies and procedures
  • Ensure an appropriate guarantee or collateral is in place and documented
  • Facilitate opening of deposit accounts to borrowers and non-borrowers
  • Cross sale all other VisionFund products and services.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience
  • A minimum of Diploma/Higher National Diploma or Bsc. in Animal health, agri-business, agriculture, and/or related fields with numerate coursework
  • Experience in animal husbandry/ animal science/ animal production -a MUST
  • Experience working with Dairy farmers is desirable
  • Minimum of 2 years experience in the Microfinance or Banking profession, sales or Marketing is a plus
  • Excellent computer literacy – Excel is a must
  • Strong written, oral communication and interpersonal skills
  • Results oriented and responsive
  • Ability to ride a Motorcycle
  • Must be a mature and committed Christian.
