Job Description

Mary Mount Catholic Secondary School is a key provider of girls’ education in Malawi.

Applications are invited from interested candidates to fill the vacant position of School Matron tenable at Marymount Girls Catholic Secondary school.

The successful candidate will be answerable to the Operations Manager through the Boarding Mistress. He/she will be responsible for:

Key responsibilities

  • Approving quality and quantity of all food supplies
  • Checking that all food supplies are properly stored
  • Preparation of nutritious menu for the Boarders and tuckshop supplies
  • Checking that food is properly cooked in accordance with hygiene Policy
  • Checking that the kitchen is always clean
  • Treating students minor illnesses and keeping these in her file
  • Referring major cases to the hospitals if necessary
  • Preparing a sick list register and displaying the same in the staff room and appropriate offices
  • Purchasing, administering and storage of drugs and medicine
  • Accountability of all school property under her charge
  • Making sure that cooks are clean and healthy
  • Ensuring that cooks undergo monthly medical check ups
  • Arranging for guardians for sick students before parent/guardians are called to take over.


  • Minimum of a diploma in Nursing or its equivalent.
  • Must be a retired public officer.
  • Must be physically fit.
  • Must be a practicing Christian.
  • Must be sober minded and honest.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be willing to work odd hours.
