Job Description

Medecins Sans Frontieres is an international, medical, non-governmental humanitarian organisation that assists populations in distress in more than 60 countries around the world. In Malawi, MSF works in collaboration with the Ministry of Health and the local community in integrated HIV/AIDS projects.

Nurse Mentor  (Health Centre - Nsanje)

Major responsibilities include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Support the implementation and dissemination of a comprehensive HIV/ART model of care which is available to all people living with HIV in Nsanje district
  • Build capacity of MoH staff for providing ART using a Differentiated Service Delivery model of care
  • Build capacity of MoH staff for managing Advanced HIV via mentorship and delivery of health centre teaching sessions
  • Ensure high quality and appropriate clinical care delivery during the clinics
  • Participate in activities of sensitization in the provision of Friendly Services
  • Collaborate and maintain relationships with Internal and External partners to support the program
  • Participate actively in the Monitoring and Evaluation planning as well as data collection and analysis and Quality Improvement Projects.

Essential Requirements

  • Previous work experience in HIV/AIDS of at least 4 years
  • Previous mentorship experience
  • Previous attendance at MoH provided HIV/TB guideline training.

Desirable requirement

  • Second line prescribing accreditation
  • Previous experience working with key populations
  • Previous experience developing and implementing health or community programs
  • Previous experience with an NGO is an advantage.

Educational qualifications

  • Registered Nurse
  • Registration with the Medical Council of Malawi

Additional requirements

  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail
  • Skills in technical guidance to MOH staff
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task
  • Fluent in English and Chichewa, written and spoken
  • Good knowledge of MS Word and Power Point.
