Job Description

World Relief is an international Christian NGO working in health, economic development, disaster response, and refugee resettlement. World Relief`s mission is empowering local churches to serve the most vulnerable.

World Relief Malawi is implementing a USAID funded SCOPE project which seeks to use and improve existing private and public health systems, working systems, working with health service providers to co-train community health actors and strengthen policies to improve access to services.

World Relief Malawi, through the SCOPE project, collaborates with key stakeholders to reduce preventable maternal health and child morbidity by increasing utilization of reproductive health services for women of reproductive age and utilization of primary health care services by under five children.

World Relief Malawi, therefore invites applications from interested and qualified candidates to fill the following vacant positions:

Job Title : Project Coordinators – (3 Positions)

Reports to : Project Manager

Location : Lilongwe/Machinga

Key Responsibilities

Reporting to the Project Manager, the Project Coordinator will ensure that all project related activities implemented by WRM in Lilongwe/Machinga districts contribute significantly towards the reduction of preventable maternal health and child mobidity. The Project Coordinator will work with the District Council and the District Coordinating Committee to ensure coordination of activities in the district. She/he will also assist in the coordination of project activities and resources including personnel and ensure achievement of project deliverables within agreed timeframes.

Specific Functions

  • Facilitate the development and implementation of project plans and budgets in collaboration with Project Manager, Project Supervisors and M&E Assistants.
  • Coordination of field level human, financial and material resources of the project to ensure efficient resource allocation and utilization for all components.
  • In liaison with the Project Manager and M&E officer, facilitate monthly project technical reviews and planning meetings with the project supervisors.
  • Coordinate with the M&E Coordinator in the review and ensure timely submission to the secretariat.
  • Maintain close links with the appropriate Government Departments and other organizations (including NGO`s) implementing health related projects in respective districts to ensure complementarity and avoid duplication of efforts.
  • Provide overall supportive supervision of all training events conducted by the project.
  • Provide training and guidance for project supervisors and other field level personnel to stimulate active participation of care givers pof under five children in project activities.
  • Supervise and train project teams in target areas in the high impact areas.
  • Assist in the organization and undertaking of all aspects of visits by the all stakeholders.
  • Ensure integration of the project activities with the material health related interventions, Savings for Life and Integral Mission initiatives in Lilongwe and Machinga.
  • Undertake any other activities relevant to the project as requested by the Project Manager.

Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelors Degree in Nursing/Public Health/Rural Development
  • At least a minimum of three (3) years practical experience in health dealing with communities
  • Good working experience in Community mobilization and participatory rural appraisal.
  • Good budgeting and reporting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills
  • Computer literacy.
