Job Description

University of Hebron (UHB) is a private university that is established in July 2019 by a team of academic experts in Malawi. The University will open its doors in January 2020 with two School Colleges, School of Business Innovation and Entrepreneurship Development and School of Agribusiness and Sustainable Development. The University of Hebron is established with an intention of bridging the skills and knowledge gap existing in university graduates that are ushered into the labour market by different institutions of higher learning in Malawi and also usher in a cadre of graduates who are creative and innovative for transformation. At the helm of its training goals is the intention to develop highly skilled and talented professionals who are geared to turning the 21st century challenges into opportunities by combining their skills with cutting edge technology to create wealth. As part of developing its structure and establishing the University’s academic and administrative team, the university has embarked on a recruitment drive and therefore inviting applications to fill in the vacancy as follows:


Qualification and Experience

  • The Candidate for the lob must possess a PhD or Masters from a recognized University with at least 3 years relevant post-qualification experience, preferably in Institution of higher Learning. Professional qualification/membership of relevant professional bodies will be an added advantage.


The Registrar is a Principal Officer and the Chief Administrative Officer of the University and is responsible to the Vice Chancellor for the day to day administrative work of the University. The Registrar is also the Secretary to the governing Council, Senate, Congregation and Convocation.


  • The Registrar is the official authorized keeper of the university’s student swords
  • The Registrar hires, supervises and evaluates the Records and Registrar staff members.
  • The Registrar organizes and administers the records, registration and graduation functions.
  • The Registrar participates and serves as part of the Student Services Team.
  • Provide leadership to plan, organize and manage all the activities related to records and registration department including the admissions department, examination unit, senate and governance unit;
  • Responsible for the University’s student records, collecting, recording, reporting of student records as per the guidelines;
  • Ensure compliance to policies, procedures, and required legislation;
  • Provide leadership and develop appropriate recommendations for the implementation of related technology application in support of enhanced services;
  • Develop and administer the departmental budget
  • Lead the academic & business teams, work with cross functional teams, to achieve a WIN:WIN to achieve organizational goals;
  • Collaborate with administrators, deans, faculty, IT and counsellors to facilitate and improve services to students, including catalogue and registration/records policy questions.
  • Organize and administer the records, registration, graduation functions and any events or functions that Is not limited to convocation ceremony, including transcript format evaluations,
  • Supervise the coordination, evaluation and certification of all graduation applications, while overseeing the complete graduation process to include all elements of the rehearsal and the convocation ceremony to ensure positive student experiences;
