Job Description

Reading for All Malawi (REFAM ) Implemented by Juarez & Associates Inc. with funding from the United States Agency for International Development ( USAID), is urgently seeking to engage the services of a suitably qualified individual to fill the vacant position of a Driver tenable at its offices in Lilongwe. The Driver will be reporting to the Finance Manager.

PURPOSE OF THE JOB

The Driver with the support of the Finance Manager ensures that the Chief of Party and the REFAM team can carry out their work in a suitable environment with timely and appropriate supplies and coordinated vehicle support.

MAIN DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Driving REFAM vehicle in town and in the field following REFAM movements, Security and Safety Regulations and initiating and following up on timely cost efficient maintenance and repair works on the vehicle.
  • Conducting routine check -ups of the vehicle including but not limited to oil, condition, brake function, water lights and tyre condition
  • Updating mileage records in log books
  • Maintaining cleanliness of the vehicle.
  • Performing any other lawful duties as may be reasonably assigned by the Finance Manager from time to time.

REQUIREMENTS
  • 5 years experience in the field of professional driving and preferably in Government and NGO Context.
  • Valid drivers Licence and basic skills in vehicle Maintenance and Repair.
  • Able to Speaking /write in English and preferably local languages.
  • Computer Literate (Minimum word, Excel , Email and Internet.
  • Must be of sober mind.
  • Must be willing to work at odd hrs.

PERSONAL QUALITIES & SKILLS;
  • Skilled driver with good Safety record.
  • Proactive altitude, self – motivated and able to work with Minimum supervision
  • Able to accept wide variation in types of work from hands on logistics support, vehicle maintenance to administrative and logistics duties.
  • Understanding of Logistics and procurement procedures.
  • Good geographical knowledge of routes within Lilongwe and Malawi
  • Willing and able to travel and stay in the projects sites occasionally.
