Job Description

Emmanuel International Malawi is a faith based organization working with rural communities in Malawi in Relief and Development since 1987. Emmanuel International Malawi is implementing Development Food Security Activities Project known as Titukulane Project, meaning (Let us work together for development). This Project is for five years and it will be implemented in Mangochi District. The Titukulane Project intends to focus on six program areas: Agriculture, Maternal and Child Health, Water Supply and Sanitation, Civil Society Disaster Readiness and Private Sector Productivity. The Project will both build capacities of women, men, girls and boys, and address systematic weaknesses that limit opportunities and reduce the likelihood of sustained outcomes. Applications are therefore welcome for the following vacant positions as follows:

Job Title: Program Manager

Reports To: The Country Director

Job Responsibilities

  • Plans and implements, program activities effectively to achieve technical standards and within budget levels all the time.
  • Coordinates program activities and provides expertise to all staff in order to achieve synergy in project implementation.
  • Liaises on with the M & E Coordinator and monitors the operations of the programme at all levels to ensure key performance Indicators are being achieved. Reports timely on organization progress as required all the time.
  • Monitors and reviews project staff performance and gives feedback timely so that necessary modifications are done where possible.
  • Prepares detailed budgets, provides oversight in the management and reporting of the programme budgets
  • Monitors and controls the utilization of project resources in accordance with organization policies and procedures all the time.
  • Establish linkages with key stakeholders implementing similar programmes in the impact districts to strengthen referral and linkages.
  • Oversee the project level information system in order to fully respond to donor reporting requirements.
  • Provides appropriate levels of technical assistance for the project and coordinates partner efforts in project implementation all the time.
  • Prepares timely and accurate monthly and quarterly programmatic reports and submit to Country Director and other relevant bodies.
  • Ensures that organization Personnel protocols are observed and maintained in regards to contracts, safety standards and work place environment
  • Collaborates with district level, government departments and other relevant stakeholders implementing similar initiatives to ensure that best practices are shared across all stakeholders.
  • Provides leadership and technical support to the project staff and appraise performance.
  • Controls project budget and ensure compliance with policies, procedures and contractual requirements.
  • Builds and nurtures good working partnerships and linkages with NGOs, government agencies, and other relevant stake-holders in the project areas to advance the mission of the organization.

  • At least a Master’s Degree in any of the following: Development Work, Development Studies, Public Health, Food and Nutrition Studies, Agriculture, Livelihood Development, Project Management for Development from a well-recognised and properly accredited institution.
  • Fluency in both written and spoken English;
  • At least five years’ experience in leadership or managerial position post Masters.
  • Specialised training in managing people, preferred.
  • Outstanding interpersonal relationship building and employee coaching and development skills
  • Excellent in computer skills in Microsoft windows environment which includes knowledge of word, excel and access
  • Able to practice high level of confidentiality and maturity
  • Excellent organizational and management skills.
  • Excellent time management and able to communicate effectively
  • Clean motor vehicle driver’s licence recognised in Malawi
