Eagles Relief and Development Programme (Eagles) envisions communities that are able to identify their problems, find lasting solutions and take actions so that they are self-reliant, resilient and have an improved standard of living and an active faith. Communities develop skills, attitudes and knowledge that enable them become self-reliant and resilient, learning to identify and solve problems facing them using what they have, as well as collaborate with other stakeholders through networking and advocacy to address problems that are beyond their capacity

Eagles will be implementing a Gender Responsive Ultra Poor Graduation project. The project is under a consortium of Oxfam and Christian Aid, with Oxfam as a lead and grant holder. The project targets Balaka and Machinga districts, aiming to graduate 3 300 households, including 30% women headed households and 20% youth headed households from ultra-poverty. Eagles Relief will implement the project in Balaka district targeting 4 Traditional Authorities of Amidu, Kalembo, Nsamala and Nkaya, aiming to graduate 1 250 ultra-poor households from ultra poverty.

Eagles Relief is therefore seeking to recruit the above position.

The primary purpose of the job is to coordinate Eagles interventions in 4 T/As in Balaka district to enhance resilience and sustainability graduate rural households, including women and the youth from Ultra-Poverty.


  • Coordinate day to day implementation of project activities in line with project work plans and budgets.
  • Coordinate church and community transformation initiatives to enhance both church and community • members’ engagement for the planned project activities.
  • Provide specialised advice and specific skills to case workers and teams, especially related to enterprise development, financial literacy, digital finance, financial diaries, village savings & lending, climate smart agriculture, and ultra poor graduation to reinforce the quality delivery of the Gender Responsive Ultra Poor Graduation project in Balaka district.
  • Support the development and implementation of a simple but robust complaints and feedback mechanism for the project
  • Coordinate vulnerability and capacity assessments amongst the communities.
  • Produce monthly, quarterly, biannual and annual project progress report in line with donor standardized reporting guidelines and formats.
  • Ensuring that cross-cutting issues such as gender and HIV and AIDs are mainstreamed in the project activities implementation.
  • Monitor project activities on a regular basis to ensure the project is on track.
  • Foster collaboration with key project stakeholders at both local and district level.
  • Provide technical leadership for project team at district level.
  • Supervise and support all staff engaged to facilitate the work of the projects, which covers the areas of administration sponsor relations, finances and programme and promote teamwork amongst staff
  • Conduct performance appraisal of individual team members using the set Performance Management System
  • Build capacity of staff based on performance management system, identifying capacity gaps and planning interventions to address them in order to effectively deliver project activities.
  • Manage staff according to the performance management guidelines
  • Keep an inventory of all Eagles property and ensure their security at all times
  • Represent the organization at district level coordination meetings.
  • Undertake any other duties that may be assigned from time to time by the supervisor.

  • A minimum of a Degree in Agriculture, Agribusiness, Livelihoods, or Rural development from a recognized institution.
  • A minimum of 5 years experience in implementing donor-funded projects in an NGO set up in areas of enterprise development, financial inclusion, food security, disaster risk reduction, climate change adaptation, water and sanitation and church mobilization.
  • Knowledge and experience in participatory approaches
  • Knowledge and experience in church and community mobilization transformation process.
  • Excellent networking and resilience building of ultra-poor households.
  • Good written and oral communication skills in English and Chichewa.
  • Must be computer literate.
  • Must be a practicing Christian.
  • Must be self starter and motivated person, able to work with minimal supervision.
  • Possession of clean valid motorcycle driving license.
